Seldom Seen Giant Squid Caught On Camera In Toyama Bay

“Big In Japan” was a song originally performed by Alphaville  in the  80’s but were they referring to Giant Squids? To be honest it doesn’t matter whether they did or not but it aptly describes this sea creature. What a weird and wonderful world we have especially under the sea. This squid was seen near the surface of the water in a harbour in Japan. This allowed a diver to swim next to it and come up with some great footage.

These creatures are immense and can grow up to 13m in length although this one only measured around 3.7m. The Cephalopod  hung around in the harbour for a  few hours and there is no real explanation as to how a creature normally seen in deep waters ended up there.
